Jonny Lives! first single "Get Steady" was inspired by a crazy 48 hours in the UK after a run of shows with the Kaiser Chiefs. The weekend consisted of a bottle of tequila with Dave Grohl, the NME Music Awards, a wrestling match with UK DJ femmes, the Queens of Noize, and cigars with the Kings of Leon. It continued in NYC, where Dubowsky concocted a sleezy guitar riff and lyrics about the weekend’s antics while at a favorite Lower East Side hang, coming up with the anthem that would become the band’s calling card. Jonny Lives! is a glossy & gritty band who take their cues from the Brit-pop, rhythm ‘n blues, and LES punk scenes of the 60's and 70's and updates it with unbridled rock. Frontman Jonny Dubowsky, who attended NYU as a literature and philosophy major, wraps experience into observational rock songs about the Lower East Side pick-up scene. Christian Langdon (guitar/vocals) hails from Leeds and has been a professional musician in the UK since the age of 16. As a member of a certified rock family (his older bros founded Spacehog) Christian’s licks have the type of panache that define Jonny Lives! Tommy USA (bass) has laid the groove as a member of White Light Motorcade and on Liz Phair's White Chocolate Space Egg album and Jon Weber (drums) played in John Cameron Mitchell's debut cast of Hedwig and
The Angry Inch.
