MUSIC NATION Global Online Music Talent Competition
Entry for the U.S. Competition Free Through 2006
Music Nation today launched the Beta version of their website, where videos are now being accepted for entry in their multi-genre video music competition in the U.S. Contestants in the rock, pop and urban genres are invited to upload their videos at www.MusicNation.com to compete for a global recording contract with Epic Records.
Entry will be free from now through January 29. After January 29, 2007, all entrants will submit $25 with entries. The site officially launches on January 15 when voting begins. There will be no difference in the consideration given to videos submitted during the Beta period and those submitted after January 1.
Music Nation, focused on music and finding genuine talent, has already received more than 800 video entries that are available for viewing on the site - all submitted from word-of-mouth about the contest spreading virally. Bands and musicians now have the ability to check out their competition and submit their own video entries, while the public can register with the site to browse, form, or join groups as well as comment on videos.
How it works:
Voting begins January 15, 2007 and the competition runs for 15 weeks. Each week two videos, one chosen by the public and one chosen by a panel of celebrity judges from each of the three genres, will be voted into the quarterfinals. Voting will reset weekly during the initial 12 weeks of competition, giving previously entered bands or artists a fresh chance to be voted into the quarterfinals and allowing new bands or artists to enter each week. Clear Channel Radio will also promote the competition and contestants locally across the country.
After 12 weeks, the quarterfinalist pool is narrowed to a semifinalist round, and again for the finals in week 15. Three winners, one in each genre, will be awarded global recording contracts with Epic Records and one of these winners will be featured on STRIPPED, Clear Channel Radio's exclusive in-studio performance series.
Post Videos and Start Sharing with Friends
Bands can visit www.MusicNation.com to upload videos and create an artist page (artists must be ages 14 - with parental consent - or older to enter). Once the video is uploaded, contestants can take their submission and post the video around the Web (on fan sites, MySpace, YouTube, etc.), driving more fans and followers to vote, directly from that particular site. Additionally, the public can now register with the Music Nation Beta site, create a user profile page, and browse videos in preparation for voting to begin in January.
