SAVAGE GARDEN'S DARREN HAYES is set to unleash double disc record
25 Tracks of Epic Music Telling Tales of Hayes’ Journey in Life, Love and other Mysteries
Superstar and critically-acclaimed Pop artist Darren Hayes is currently in the studio mixing a collection of 25 bold and intriguing Pop songs that are already being compared in scope to the work of musical icons such as Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel and David Bowie. Hayes has been feverishly co-producing with the likes of Justin Shave (Etherfox, [Love] Tattoo) and Robert Conley (Hayes’ Tension and The Spark) and mixing with the great Ash Howes (Nelly Furtado, Dido, Kylie.)
Hayes, best known by the world as the voice of Multi-Platinum band SAVAGE GARDEN, has made himself a solo artist to reckon with in not only his homeland of Australia, but also in the UK, Europe and Asia. London, England is where Hayes currently resides with his partner, animator Richard Cullen. Hayes released his second solo album, THE TENSION AND THE SPARK to amazing response from critics with exceptional quotes such as:
With kudos such as the above it’s obvious that TENSION brought solid credibility to such an accomplished artist. Unfortunately, due to label breakdowns, TENSION and its success never saw the light of day in America. Hayes’ fans clamored for the record and had to buy imports and listen online to enjoy what Hayes created. This gave some awakening to the artist to split ways with Columbia, and gave him the freedom to create without any boundaries. Thus *This Delicate Thing We’ve Made has been born.
Inspiration for this record is multi-faceted, from icons in music and Victorian Science Fiction. Hayes has managed to craft an album of intricate narratives and personal confessions that simultaneously document his arrival at peace within himself. Hayes built these musical journeys with a technological muse from the past, found in that most modern of marketplaces, eBay. Hayes scored the vintage 1983 Fairlight CMI Synthesizer, which was the clunky synth that contributed beautiful unique sounds to the pivotal Kate Bush recording “The Hounds of Love.” This device whirled Darren into a time of not only Victorian inspiration but also to the time of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. “It’s not a concept record, but there is a definite idea that it begins with a loss of consciousness and gives over to the notion that we are going to go deep into the psyche,” says Hayes.
Freedom has never tasted so good to Hayes, having this in his personal, professional and creative life for the first time in 10 years. It makes all of the winding roads of his past worth it in the end. * This Delicate Thing We’ve Made will hit stateside in August of this year.
