MUSIC NATION announces third week of quarterfinalist winners
Public Along With Industry Heavyweights Including The Game and Good Charlotte's Madden Brothers Select Acts Niki Barr, Matt Austin, Tina Dawn, Yolanda Ruiz, Nuthouze, and Mirage
Music Nation ( http://www.musicnation.com ), the artist development company, has announced the winners for the third week of its online multi-genre video music competition. Each week, the public, together with the Music Nation panel of judges, votes to determine which artists move on the quarterfinal round. Offering a chance for unsigned acts to have their music heard by some of the premier figures in the music industry, the panel consists of rock judges Joel and Benji Madden from Good Charlotte and producer Howard Benson, pop judges Charlie Walk, President of Epic Records, and producer Jonathan 'J.R.' Rotem, and urban judges Nelly, The Game and Mark Pitts, President of Urban Music at Jive Records. This week's winners in the rock genre are Niki Barr and Matt Austin, Tina Dawn and Yolanda Ruiz in pop; and in urban, Nuthouze and Mirage.
These six winners now move on to the quarterfinals, beginning April 23rd, which will be followed by semifinal and final rounds. Three artists one from each genre (rock, pop and urban) will win the ultimate prize: a global recording contract with Epic Records. The winners will also be showcased on an episode of STRIPPED, Clear Channel Radio's exclusive in-studio performance series.
Rock Winners
Niki Barr 'Wasted Time' Judges' Choice
http://rock.musicnation.com/v71c
Although only 23 years old, Niki Barr brings a refreshing ferocity back to the term 'front woman.' 'Wasted Time' denounces the way women in music are so often placed into a cookie-cutter image. In the video, Barr stays true to herself, abandoning the 'image enhancers' and any unnecessary adornments that detract from herself or her music. Barr is based in Baltimore, MD.
Matt Austin - 'Your Enemy' Nation's Choice

Matt Austin's 'Your Enemy' acts as a small documentary about a day in the life of an up-and-coming musician: the writing and recording process, as well as the solitude and the struggle. Austin, 26, is from Detroit, MI.
Pop Winners
Tina Dawn - 'What Are You Doing' Judges' Choice

A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Tina Dawn is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and pianist. It's the strength of Dawn's voice that makes the spirited, karaoke bar style of her 'What Are You Doing' video so compelling. The 25-year old songstress is based in Boston, MA.
Yolanda Ruiz - 'Loca' Nation's Choice *

Santa Monica, CA's Yolanda Ruiz combines 'catchy pop melodies with pulsating Latin grooves, hip-hop beats and scorching guitar.' The playful black and white video showcases the charismatic 30-year-old Ruiz's dancing skills, and also features guest vocalist Jabu (from the band Ozomatli).
Urban Winners
Nuthouze - 'Long Road' Judges' Choice
http://urban.musicnation.com/v111
The 'Long Road' is an epic, cinematic video that's set in the Depression, complete with Hoovertowns and bread lines. A string section complements the song, which deals with life's injustice and struggle a universal theme in any era. Nuthouze is a four-person group comprised of Mark D and Babbalon (both based in the Bay Area) as well as Kid from Kid N' Play and Maximus
Antoneus (both based in Los Angeles). The video also features guest appearances by Raulie Barron and Thomas.
Mirage - 'Your Girl' Nation's Choice *
