Rotem, and urban judges Nelly, The Game and Mark Pitts, President of Urban Music at Jive Records. This week"s winners in the rock genre are Burning Tree Project and ColdFusion, Sara Melson and Pink Stilettos in pop; and in urban, Geno & Skunk Boogie and Muddy Trenchez.
These six winners now move on to the quarterfinals, beginning April 23rd, which will be followed by semifinal and final rounds. Three artists - one from each genre (rock, pop and urban) - will win the ultimate prize: a global recording contract with Epic Records. The winners will also be showcased on an episode of STRIPPED, Clear Channel Radio"s exclusive in-studio performance series.
Rock Winners
Burning Tree Project - "Stop Saying It's Over - Judges' Choice
http://rock.musicnation.com/v1c5
Burning Tree Project's "Stop Saying It"s Over" is a great combination of storyline - a girl's unexplained disappearance at a convenience store as a metaphor for a break-up - combined with high energy performance footage. The band (Enik Lin, Sean Gordon, Dave Kim, Andre Harris, Matt Marquez) is from Buena Park, CA.
ColdFusion - "Get Out" - Nation's Choice
http://rock.musicnation.com/vb5
Diamond Bar, CA's ColdFusion is a band that knows how to work. With four self-released albums already in stores, the band (Mike Oliver, 26, JT, 26, Taylor Ouellette, 23, Michael Detto, 21, Ryan Bishop, 25) obviously shares the same ferocity and tenacity as shown in their urgent and energetic video for "Get Out."
Pop Winners
Sara Melson - "Never Been Hurt" - Judges' Choice
http://pop.musicnation.com/v698
Sara Melson's "Never Been Hurt" video is as pretty and tender as the song itself. The Los Angeles, CA-based artist's songs have been featured on both the ABC show "Men In Trees" and as a Top Ten Pick on the Launch/Yahoo radiocast Cool as Folk.
Pink Stilettos - "Supposed To Be" - Nation's Choice
http://pop.musicnation.com/v671
Pink Stilettos is a pop/country/rock trio of three sisters (Allison, 20, Angela, 18, Marianne, 14) from Alpine, UT, all trained on the piano and classical instruments since age four. "Supposed To Be" tells the age-old story of perfect pop songs: young love and heartbreak.
Urban Winners
Geno & Skunk Boogie - "Life" - Judges' Choice
http://urban.musicnation.com/v690
This Bradenton, FL duo's video lets the song speak for itself. Shot in simple black and white, "Life" relies on their rhymes, sung chorus, and the genuine enthusiasm of Geno & Skunk Boogie's live performance in this compelling homemade video.
Muddy Trenchez - "The Area" - Nation's Choice
http://urban.musicnation.com/v58a
From Palmdale, CA, Muddy Trenchez is two MCs - Young Prophet and Verb Kent - and one producer, MaxMostly aka MoBeatz. "The Area," with its horns and steady beats, is as noble-sounding as its video"s storyline, where Young Profit and Verb Kent save a young woman from imminent danger. Who needs Superman when you have Verb Kent?
