More Information & DatesOn July 6th, The Last Goodnight will embark on a two-month U.S. tour with Rocco DeLuca & The Burden. The trek comes in advance of the band's major label debut, POISON KISS, which will be released by Capitol on August 28th.
At once piano-driven and guitar heavy, rhythmic yet lush and soulful, POISON KISS is filled with cinematic, singular songs that reference a host of disparate influences - Ella Fitzgerald, ELO, Richard Ashcroft, Sly Stone, Supertramp, Massive Attack - yet reflect a thoroughly modern sensibility. From the strident title track, where the sounds of crackling vinyl mesh with a melancholy but buoyant, layered vibe to the poignant, vivid vignettes of "Pictures of You," POISON KISS details an emotional journey that is highly personal and yet universal.
"'Pictures of You' is a collage of life, a landscape of lyrics that paints a picture of 'what if,'" explains lead singer/pianist Kurtis John. "What if a different path was taken, or someone was dealt the wrong set of cards?"
Band members John, Mike Nadeau (lead guitar), Leif Christensen (bass) and Anton Yurack (keyboards, harmonica, rhythm guitar) started playing together while still in high school. They were joined later by Ravi (drums) and Ely Rise (keyboards) and signed with Capitol in 2006. Fans can check out the band's story in The Last Goodnight's "scrapbook" at its newly launched website:
