The album was recorded this past spring in London with producer Youth (Verve, Primal Scream) and is set for release on October 2, 2007 via Roadrunner Records in conjunction with The Cult's imprint label, NEW WILDERNESS. The band will also be releasing the Savage Edition, a special version of Born Into This, with 5 bonus tracks and sticker. This is The Cult's first release since 2001. The band have built an extensive global fan base with hits such as "She Sells Sanctuary," "Rain," "Wild Flower," "Love Removal Machine," "Edie," "The Witch" and "Rise."

The band's first single, "Dirty Little Rock Star," is already making waves at radio. The track is currently spinning at key modern rock tastemaker stations like Columbus' WWCD-FM, Grand Rapid's WGRD-FM, New Jersey's WHTG-FM and Portland's KNRK-FM, while active rock stations like Austin's KLDJ-FM, Kansas City's KQRC-FM, Salt Lake City's KHTB-FM, Houston's KTBZ-FM, Chicago's WIIL-FM, Nashville's WBUZ-FM and Seattle's KISW-FM have put the track into heavy rotation.
