In a move that’s both innovative and intimate, Capitol Records quintet Saosin has joined with global youth brand Hurley to record demos for their upcoming album in Hurley’s Costa Mesa, California studio – and to bring all of their fans right into the recording sessions through a real-time, multi-camera audio/video feed from the Hurley studio. The initial six-day schedule of tracking and songwriting has been streaming live and unedited daily at http://www.hurley.com/ms/music/saosinstudio/index.cfm. In addition, video blogs and contests are based on the webpage. Saosin fans will also be able to hear more of the newly-composed tracks live on stage as the band joins Underoath beginning Oct. 15th for a six-week series of tour dates stretching from coast to coast. Saosin have recorded a brand new EP entitled The Grey EP featuring 3 new songs recorded in the Hurley studio and an acoustic version of their previously released track “Come Close.” The Grey EP will be sold exclusively on tour and at Hurley.com beginning Oct. 14th. The band hopes to start recording their second full length album following the outing with Underoath.

Following the first webcast – with its crystal-clear view and honest documenting of a day’s work -- Saosin bassist Chris Sorenson blogged an enthusiastic post-game message on the band’s MySpace page: “This will really give everyone interested and watching a TRUE perspective of what goes on in the studio. From mics, to computers...but most important, the flow of ideas that happen, and how things can truly manifest out of thin air, and completely in the moment.”

The band has a history of successfully using technology to make their contact with their fans deeper and closer: Saosin’s Fliptrack photo album has over 3 million views currently; the band’s MySpace.com page has delivered over 23.2 million song streams, and Saosin’s live CD/DVD package Come Close, released in March, 2008, included end credit shout-outs to fans who text-messaged their names to the band.

Saosin is comprised of Cove Reber (vocals), Chris Sorenson (bass), Alex Rodriguez (drums), Justin Shekoski (guitar) and Beau Burchell (guitar). The band’s first full-length album on Capitol, Saosin, was a Top 25 Billboard album and No. 7 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart.
